FTP is an acronym for File Transfer Protocol and is a standard mechanism used for transferring files over the internet.
Report-IT primarily uses a streaming mechanism for low latency, low bandwidth transfer of audio during a live report, however it also offers FTP as a means to extract recorded reports (either created using the Record A Report screen or recorded as part of a live report on the Report Live screen).
Report-IT's FTP functionality allows for either a high quality PCM-WAVE encoded reports to be uploaded to your studios FTP server. Report-IT Live also provides for the smaller sized AAC-LC encoded uploads while Report-IT Live Professional also provides BWF-Wave with metadata. These formats use more data than a live report, however provide high quality standard audio file formats that can be imported into most newsroom management systems or PCs.
Note: AAC-LC is not supported on the iPhone 3G - only on iPhone 3Gs, iPod Touch 2nd Gen or greater, & iPad.
The FTP settings for Report-IT are located under the Sharing section of the Configuration screen. The values for these settings (specifically the Server Settings) should be obtained from your studio engineer.
Once set, to FTP a recorded report:
- Navigate to the Manage Reports screen.
- Select the report to be transferred.
- Select FTP Report.
- Press the Upload button.
